Welcome to the Coherence Special Interest Group (CSIG). Whether you're an experienced Coherence user, or new to Data Grid technology, the CSIG is the community for realizing Coherence-related projects and best practices.

We are dedicated to fostering community-based knowledge sharing, awareness and best practice applications of Data Grid technology through pragmatic industry driven events, case studies, informal gatherings, and online resources.

We are inviting Software Developers, Engineers, Architects and Team Leads using, adopting or wishing to extend their practical knowledge and experience with Data Grids based on Oracle Coherence.

Presentation Abstracts
Coherence Overview and Strategy
Craig Blitz (speaker bio) Senior Group Product Manager (Oracle)
Oracle Coherence now plays a key role in Oracle's Cloud Application Platform. In this talk, learn about some of the major new features in the latest Coherence release that enable developers to scale applications to meet new mobile and cloud demands through features like Live Events, reduce operational costs through Managed Coherence Servers, and enhance deployment options for high availability. Craig will also provide a sneak peak at what is coming in forthcoming releases, and will provide a refresher on Coherence for those who are new to the technology or who's knowledge may be a bit rusty.
Customer Presentation - Distributed Trade Message Processing with Coherence
Dermot Smyth AERO Senior Developer, Technology (Macquarie Group Limited)
This talk will detail how a large scale distributed trade message processing system was built using Coherence (as the distributed in-memory data-grid platform).
Focusing on the Coherence features used, the discussion will detail how the system was implemented, the issues encountered (and how they were solved) as well as the lessons learnt.
Additionally, with the advent of Coherence 12c (12.1.2), the talk will also cover how some of the new features will be utilised to improve performance.
Coherence in an Event Driven Architecture
Aaron Blishen NSW Practice Manager (Intelligent Pathways)
This presentation will demonstrate the applicability of Coherence within an Event Driven Architecture, using real life examples sourced from the Airline industry. The presentation will cover Event Driven Architecture concepts, use cases for Coherence within the architecture and architectural and design decisions to be considered when choosing Coherence as a core technology in the solution
Extend your Clusters reach with Coherence*Extend
Tim Middleton (speaker bio) Solution Architect - Coherence Development (Oracle)
Coherence*Extend allows Coherence clusters to be accessed via multiple languages and frameworks such as C++, .NET and REST as
well as enabling geographically separate clusters to communicate. In this talk, learn about how Coherence*Extend works, new features in Coherence 12.1.2 as well as recommended best practice.
Tim will also show a demonstration of new Coherence*Extend features running under WebLogic Server 12.1.2
Customer Presentation - Real-time fixed income VaR / Margin calculations using Oracle Coherence
Dhileep Paski Principal, Software Architect (Industrie IT Pty Ltd)
Design walk-through of a real-time margin (VaR) simulation offering for fixed income institutional clients. Discussion of cache structures, data feeds, integration of spring and use of an in-house quantitative library implementing delta-gamma. Elaboration on the use of coherence as a compute grid with co-located market data and portfolio data to distribute the process intensive derivation of mark to market figures and worst case loss in real (near) time.
Call For Speakers
The TRAVCSIG is looking for speakers. Do you have an interesting Coherence implementation you can show or discuss? Please let us know if you're interested in speaking or if there is a topic you would like to see presented at our next meeting.
