| Coherence 101, The Evolution of Distributed Caching |
Noah Arliss (speaker bio) Development Manager, Oracle Coherence (Oracle)
Distributed caching has evolved over the years to meet the needs of building real world scalable applications. In this talk we'll walk through this evolution to understand the basics of Coherence functionality and when you should use it. We'll cover the basics of how local caching, replicated caching, distributed caching, near caching and distributed queries work. |
| Optimizing Performance for Oracle Coherence and TopLink Grid at OOCL |
Matt Rosen (speaker bio) Director of Application Development, OOCL
Leo Limqueco (speaker bio) Application Development Team Lead, OOCL
OOCL, a global ocean container carrier, has adopted Oracle TopLink Grid as a central component in its core ERP system. While TopLink Grid (TopLink + Coherence) provides many benefits for development productivity (a subject for another upcoming talk – stay tuned!), achieving the required run-time performance in support of a low latency, moderately high volume message oriented architecture proved to be a challenge. Once again, Coherence to the rescue! This talk will describe a design pattern employed to leverage TopLink Grid, but extend the cache scope and enjoy two orders of magnitude in improved response time and throughput. |
| Oracle Coherence Message Bus - Extreme Performance on Oracle Exalogic |
Ballav Bihani (speaker bio) Principal Member Technical Staff (Oracle)
Oracle Coherence 3.7.1 introduced a new binary message transport called Message Bus. Message Bus opens up the usage of infiniband protocol directly in Java. It provides a pluggable, provider-based framework that allows to hook in highly scalable and optimized implementations. This talk will discuss the implementation of Message Bus and the current providers, including tcp and infiniband available on the Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software. |
 | Call For Speakers The BACSIG is looking for speakers. Do you have an interesting Coherence implementation you can show or discuss? Please let us know if you're interested in speaking or if there is a topic you would like to see presented at our next meeting. |
